The Quiet Corner of Connecticut

The White Barn Children's Centre sits on just under 3 acres of land in Thompson, CT. This area of Connecticut is known for  its beautiful country setting with farms and historic buildings throughout the  area. We are conveniently located just 2 miles from 395 N/S  off exit 50, just down the hill from Thompson Common. 

The Barn sits on the upper part of the property and is a 40 x 60 monitor style barn. The main level of The Barn has expansive ceiling height reaching 24ft at its highest point. The design of windows will flood the building with natural light and bring the colors of outside in. We will use colors  and textures of nature to drive our interior finishes. The preschool will have 3 open classrooms and a full functional kitchen. The lower level of The Barn will house maintenance equipment, farm tractor, farm truck and storage area. 

The Gardens and Chickens will be located on upper level of property for ease of care and  safe access . There will be an herb  garden, vegetable garden, and a cut flower garden spanning the upper level of property along with two outbuildings.

The Orchard is in our lower field area of the property. A cart path was designed and installed to blend-in with nature. Grass has been planted on this sloped road to maintain the natural beauty of the location.  The Orchard field will have  fruit trees  and  a farm play area to  spur creative play along with the freedom to run, jump, and climb. 

The Woodland Trail is located off the Orchard field on lower level of property. This is a gentle loop trail that starts at one end of field and ends at the opposite end.  There are mature oak trees along this trail that will provide shade and a quiet place to sit and take in the sounds of nature. ,
